Emily Hickey
Position title: Graduate Student
Emily is a graduate student in the Human Development and Family Studies Department. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Penn State University in 2010 and her Master’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2013. After completing her Master’s degree, Emily worked as a therapist in an intensive day treatment program for children with developmental disabilities and mental health conditions in Pennsylvania. Here, Emily worked closely with children and families to help them develop and practice healthy coping strategies to deal with the stressors associated with ASD and other developmental and mental health disorders. Currently, her research focuses on the bidirectional links between parent-child and marital relationship quality with the goal of promoting parent and child outcomes and resiliency in families who have a child with ASD.
