Tori Fleming
Tori is a graduate student in the department of Human Development and Family Studies in the School of Human Ecology. In 2019, she graduated with her bachelor’s of science in psychology from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls. Tori’s research interests include assessing the effects of modifiable lifestyle factors (physical activity, sleep, body mass index) on Alzheimer’s disease in Down syndrome. Her current work is examining the effect of the weight paradox on the timing of Alzheimer’s disease pathology and cognitive decline in adults with Down syndrome. Tori is a Project Assistant for the Alzheimer’s Biomarker Consortium – Down Syndrome (ABC-DS) study. She helps administer neuropsychological assessments and prepares materials for the Lifestyle Study. This includes preparing the WatchPAT for the sleep portion of the study and initializing and cleaning actigraph accelerometer data. After completing her dissertation, she hopes to complete a post-doctoral training program aimed at clinical intervention trials aimed at delaying or preventing aging-related conditions (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease) in adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
